About PAS
The Population Association of Singapore (PAS) is a newly founded non-profit, scientific, professional organisation established to provide a national platform for promoting intellectual exchange and policy-relevant research on the population in Singapore and Asia. PAS was officially registered with the Registry of Societies, Ministry of Home Affairs, on 09 March 2021 (UEN: T21SS0041B).
Asia accounts for 60% of the world’s population which critically affects the economic and social development in the region and beyond. Currently, sustainable population development is a top national priority for many Asian countries including Singapore. PAS aims to advance knowledge on the causes and consequences of population changes in birth rates, marriage, migration, aging, and health and to provide guidance to relevant population policies. Our growing membership includes demographers, sociologists, economists, public policy academics, students, members of the government, and community leaders who are interested in understanding and seeking solutions for population issues such as the changing family structure and relations, birth rates, marriage, migration, aging, and health.
